What's the card? Is it Overclocked (set by yourself or the manufacturer). I had this problem with my old 9600GT which was factory OC'd. I used Rivatuner to set it to the stock levels and never had a...

From personal experience, if you're using dx9, try changing it to dx8, it'll stop the crashing. It is a known driver problem with the 8xxx-9xxx lineup

Install the latest version of directx, just get the web installer from the microsoft site. Fixed a similar issue on my family's PC where the display drivers would crash.
